For an individual owner-operator or two or more creative, food-oriented and industrious ones working together, this 1400 sq. ft. space across the street from the Wilkinson County Courthouse, offers an excellent business development opportunity in a downtown that bustles with activity each weekday. The space is fully renovated, and has been designed, furnished and equipped as a café- restaurant-coffee shop, with commercial kitchen, two indoor dining areas and outdoor seating. Permits for the service of beer, wine and spirits may be obtained. Included on the premises are tables and chairs; commercial refrigeration, coffee and exhaust system equipment; an icemaker; pastry display case and commercial stove. For café use in the new building just behind the patio are a second restroom, commercial freezer, connection for a commercial icemaker and storage. The extended patio and the porch areas of Phase II may be used for outdoor dining, grilling and as a stage for performing.
The café proprietor will be responsible for obtaining any additional cooking and refrigeration equipment and all occupational licenses and ABC permits; for providing a commercial dishwasher machine, which is available for rent from Autochlor; and if deep frying is included in the food preparation, for providing a fire suppression system.
The proprietor will be required to maintain standards of cleanliness throughout the premises.
Applicants are encouraged to have a business plan, access to funds for start-up and experience in business management and development. They are invited to propose an initial menu and hours of operation. Culinary experience is also desirable, though professional restaurant and food preparation experience is not required. Start-up rent may be waived and rent phased in – all as an inducement to qualified applicants.
